Making Your Wedding A Hollywood Affair
Celebrity weddings are often splashed across the pages of magazines, so it is no surprise that celebrity wedding décor is what we'll start to see at weddings across America. As owner of The Hidden Garden in Los Angeles I have been fortunate to work firsthand with many celebrities including Marcia Cross, Jessica Alba, Sharon Stone and Dodger's pitcher Jeff Weaver and I am excited to share with Pretty Bride some floral trends you'll be seeing - before you see them!
Colors - Leading ladies are not afraid to make a statement with cutting edge fashion choices and the same goes with flowers on their big day. The trend right now is all about color. Rich jewel tones like magenta complimented by greens like chartreusse and accented with splashes of orange. Bold color choices likes this create bouquets and centerpieces that you can't take your eyes off (unless the bride is nearby, of course).
Ambiance - Attending red carpet events is a part of any high profile person's job, so when it comes to the overall décor for their wedding reception many choose to go with something that is comfortable, yet chic - like a cocktail lounge environment. We do this by creating welcoming seating areas complete with sofas, rugs and ottomans. To compliment this vibe the arrangements are made with a smaller grouping of flowers placed in short vases, or square containers, with the end result being a modern look with clean lines that doesn't compete with your guests' conversations.
Bridal Party Bouquets - Many brides are creating couture bridesmaid's bouquets by adding a charm with each bridesmaid's initial around the stem. The charms come in a variety of styles; rhinestones, classic black and white and silver. It sparkles during the ceremony, adds a little bling to photos and the best part...bridesmaids have a special keepsake they can turn into a one-of-a-kind necklace, or add to a charm bracelet.
Escort Card Table - Going Green is big and reuse plays a key role. Make your escort table pull double-duty by turning it into a candy bar during the reception, but repurposing the florals of course. I think it always looks best when the colors of the confections compliment those of the wedding (and the research is fun.)
Centerpieces - Instead of going for a uniform look with your flowers, try using different (but complimentary) colors and varying the heights of the arrangements. This adds a bit of drama to your reception and with all of the different looks your guests' eyes will not be able to stop dancing around the room.
Bridal Party - Some Hollywood brides are opting for no bridesmaids and more flower girls - any florist’s dream! Whether it be turning your adult friends into flower girls or just having a handful of little girls surrounding you, this is a new trend that really has a fairy tale effect.
You may not be Hollywood royalty now but if you incorporate some tinsel town glamour into your special day you will certainly feel like it. Always remember, on your wedding you are the star!
