garter talk

I got an email today from the talented Julianne Smith about her line of garters. It got me thinking about what I would be looking for if I were in the market. These are some of my faves:

I love how this last one has the subtle touch of your something blue...

In case you're wondering, the reason I won't be purchasing a garter is a result of one of my favorite family traditions. When my mom got married my Aunt Ann made her a garter that included something from her wedding dress, my grandma's, my Aunt Carol's and my Aunt Jane's. My mom then passed it along to my first cousin that got married. It has since been worn by 6 cousins and my brother's wife. After each wore it, they added something from their own dress to the garter and then passed it on. I love that a piece of each of these amazing ladies will be with me on my wedding day.

*Note: If you're thinking of doing something similar and will be doing a garter toss at your wedding (I will not be), remember to purchase a garter to be tossed as well.
